Sarah Chalke Wiki & Bio: Sarah Chalke is a Canadian actress who is best known for her recurring roles in the highly acclaimed CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” and the NBC comedy series “Scrubs”. At the age of eight, Sarah developed a love for acting and began appearing on several Canadian children’s television shows.

Sarah Louise Christine Chalke was born on August 27, 1976. She was best known for playing the second Becky Conner in the ABC sitcom Roseanne (1993–1997, 2018), Elliot Reid in the NBC–ABC medical comedy Scrubs (2001–2010), Beth Smith in the Adult Swim animated science fiction series Rick and Morty (2013–present), and Kate Mularkey in the Netflix drama series Firefly Lane (2021–2023).

She also provided voices for the animated series Dogs in Space and the Netflix animated adventure series Paradise PD, which ran from 2021 until the present. Over the years, she has appeared in a number of films in a range of supporting parts. Chalke has furthermore played a variety of recurrent parts in other television programs.

She is still a leading lady in supporting parts in both films and television shows. She is also a voice actress who debuted in the popular Adult Swim animated series “Rick and Morty” in 2013 as Beth.

After the third season of the show ended, it was renewed for a further seventy episodes as of May 2018. Given that both her aunt and grandmother passed away from breast cancer, she is actively committed in raising awareness of the condition. In addition, Sarah represents the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Foundation, which raises money for less fortunate kids all around the world.

Early Life and Education

Sarah Chalke was raised in North Vancouver, British Columbia, after being born on August 27, 1976, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario. She is the middle child of Douglas and Angela Chalke’s three daughters.

German Rostock is where her mother comes from. She used to travel twice weekly to her hometown’s German school, according to a Scrubs commentary track. Her native tongue is English, although she also speaks French “fairly well” and German with ease. This was reflected in her Scrubs character, Elliot Reid, who was fluent in both German and French. In 1994, Chalke received his diploma from North Vancouver’s Handsworth Secondary School.


At the age of eight, Sarah Chalke started performing professionally by participating in musical theater plays. She started working as a reporter for KidZone when she was 12 years old. She assumed the part of Rebecca Conner-Healy on Roseanne in 1993 after Lecy Goranson left the show; after Goranson returned, Chalke had a cameo as a different character in the Roseanne episode “Halloween: The Final Chapter“.

After Goranson left the show a second time, Chalke later assumed the role of Becky. Following the conclusion of the program, Chalke made a brief trip back to Canada, where she appeared in the 1998–1999 drama Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy on CBC Television.

She made an appearance on The ‘Bu with The Lonely Island on Channel 101, a spoof of the popular television program The O.C., where she was given the name “Pamela Fenton“. She made a cameo appearance in the 2007 film Chaos Theory, starring fellow Canadian Ryan Reynolds. In 2008, Chalke was chosen by Hanes to represent their range of women’s underwear in a series of ads that were shot by her Scrubs co-star Zach Braff.

She appeared as Stella Zinman in two episodes of the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother in 2008 and 2009. She appeared in the CBS romantic comedy series Mad Love in the beginning of 2011, which was canceled after just one season. Mad Love began as a midseason replacement.

Bill Lawrence, a former executive producer of Scrubs, hired Chalke to play Bobby Cobb’s love interest in the television series Cougar Town. In the third season, she made many appearances in episodes. How to Live with Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life), an ABC comedy series that Chalke starred in, debuted on April 3, 2013, and was canceled one month later.

She portrayed Polly, a single and incredibly rigid divorced mother who was forced to move back in with her parents due to the recession (Elizabeth Perkins and Brad Garrett). She portrayed Casey Hedges, a distraught mother, in the Grey’s Anatomy season 9 episode “Can’t Fight This Feeling” in 2013. Rick & Morty has Chalke as Beth’s voice actress.

On April 28, 2017, it was revealed that Roseanne will be getting a revival, with the majority of the original cast and several of the producers returning. On May 16, 2017, it was announced that eight episodes of the program had received ABC’s approval and would run in the middle of the 2018 season. Chalke would return but would not portray Becky Conner. She later had a cameo appearance in its spinoff series, The Conners, after it was canceled.

Chalke and Katherine Heigl co-starred in the Netflix series Firefly Lane in February 2021 as Kate Mularkey.

Personal Life

Jamie Afifi, an attorney, and Sarah Chalke are getting ready to wed. Charlie Rhodes Afifi, their son, was born on December 24, 2009, to them both. Her son Charlie was given the Kawasaki illness diagnosis when he was two years old. Additionally, in May 2016, their daughter Frankie Afifi was born.

Both Sarah’s grandma and aunt passed away from breast cancer despite receiving early diagnoses. She promotes raising awareness of breast cancer as a result. To raise awareness of the causes and early diagnosis of breast cancer, she also appeared in the Lifetime film “Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy.”
